  Floods and Power Outages Cover B.C. as Atmospheric River Hits Three days of heavy rainfall has left the lower mainland of B.C. in floods and power outages and caused a mud slide in Coquitlam which resulted in one missing person.   T he house was reportedly knocked off its foundation and turned into debris . Coquitlam’s fire team is unsure if the homeowner was home at the time of the mudslide but is considering them a missing person.   When night fell, crews had to halt their search for the homeowner, but they intend to start up again on Sunday morning.   Search and Rescue was also tasked with rescuing three hikers which was luckily successful. They are also on standby to assist with any other rescues and evacuations.   The storm hit on B.C.'s election day and knocked out power for thousands of people, including forcing the temporary closure of multiple voting places. Facing uncertainty in refugee camps , loss of loved ones, and financial, food, and housing trouble.        Despite his experiences Yahya has the determination for a better future. He is now on his way to becoming a doctor with the help of the TELUS Student Bursary. He is studying at Langara College while also volunteering at youth-focused programs and providing food and shelter for refugees, newcomers and in his neighbourhood.          His volunteer work includes, starting a youth soccer program, a board games club and taking part in the RideForRefuge initiative to raise m oney  for newly arrived refugees in Canada . The team was able to raise more than $9000 to help recently arrived refugees with housing, grocer ies, and education. ...

                   → TikTok Asks U.S. Supreme Court for Emergency Order to Block Upcoming Ban   On Monday TikTok requested the U.S. Supreme Court block s the federal law that would ban the platform in the United States unless its parent company, ByteDance, agreed to sell it.   TikTok and ByteDance’s lawyers asked the justices to intervene before January 19, the day the app has been said to be banned.   The request will go to Chief Justice John Roberts, who oversees emergency appeals from courts in the nation's capital. He will then consult with each of the nine justices .   The ban would significantly impact the financial situations of both the company and over 170 million American users.   Recall for Bagels Containing Metal Pieces Being Sold in Several Provinces Vari ous bagel brands sent to grocery stores across several provinces are recall ing their products for the possibility of containing metal pieces.     The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) stated that the Bigway , Co-op, Super A, and TGP bagel brands are affected . Their six-count cheese, sesame and everything bagels packaged from November 4- 27 are impacted .   CFIA says Canadians living in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Northwest Territories, Ontario, Saskatchewan and Yukon is advised to not use , buy, or sell , any of the recalled products.     This recall is linked to the ongoing Sifto brand Hy-Grade Salt recall.
